Princess Eryn meets her Escort, Isis

[Eryn Riler]

Isis Gaelyth has rested enough. She rises and dons her armour, leaving her companion, Johnny, well wrapped in the blankets. Yawning, she saunters towards the silent castle. It is nearly first light. "Time I met this Princess," she says.

Isis enters the strange keep, and stops a boy. "Where is Princess Eryns room" she asks him roughly. He points up the stairs silently. She walks through silent halls in her heavy boots. She spies an open door and looks inside.

Eryn Riler places the last of her things into a bag, she turns and looks around her room, scanning to see if there is anything else that should come right away. Seeing nothing she ties the bag and turns with a start as she notices a sound in the outer room.

Isis Gaelyth sees the well dressed figure of a girl. She clears her throat and bows. "My lady" Isis says, "excuse me"

Eryn Riler turns to the woman giving her a smile before speaking, "Greetings, you came with my cousin, is that right?"

Isis Gaelyth is not sure how to answer this... "he bid me come, yes. I am to serve as your bodyguard"

Eryn Riler sighs as she looks around the room that has been hers for so very long. She looks over at the woman, "then we should introduce ourselves,,, my name is Eryn and yours m'lady?"

"My name is Isis Gaelyth, your Highness" Isis bows again

Eryn Riler smiles, "Does my cousin wish us to go down right away or do we have time to sit for a while?"

Isis Gaelyth stands awkwardly. She knows little of woman's ways, and the room seems... soft and pretty, while she is used to hard ground. "We do not leave til first light." Isis walks a little further into the room, taking off her gauntlets.

Eryn Riler motions to the chair, "Please have a seat, I would like to spend my last few minutes here in this room. M'lady do you call Caledonia home?”

"Thank you... I have but newly come there, with my companion," Isis sits. She looks at the Princess with curiosity. "Tell me, are you not surprised to see a woman in armour?"

Eryn Riler thinks for a moment, "Perhaps a little but I assume the ways in Caledonia are somewhat different than here."She sighs deeply, "I am afraid I know very little of my birth home"

Isis Gaelyth shakes her head. "You know little of the world, then." *laughs lightly. "Men look at a female warrior with askance.... your cousin among them, I thought. Then he sent for me to guard you"

Eryn Riler smiles at Isis, "It is true that I have never been very far from this place and most men think that women are frail creatures. I tend to look at that as a weakness on their part" giggles

Isis Gaelyth smiles at the young girl. "Aye.... I am a little too hotheaded, and would fight any man who gainsays me. But my companion," her eyes grow soft, "he is wise and guides me. He will be travelling with us, as well, Your Highness. He is a healer, a druid. He will help protect you."

Eryn Riler notices the woman's body language, how her smile grows wider and her eyes brighter. "Please forgive me but,,,,this man that is your companion,,you care for him very much"

Isis Gaelyth blushes a little, "Yes," she fiddles with her gloves, "he is more to me than life itself. And I to him." She looks at the ring on her finger.

Eryn Riler giggles slightly,,"OH, M'lady he is" she leans in and whispers as if someone may here,,"your husband?"

Isis Gaelyth looks at the young girl and says, "no... we are... partners... companions... I hope that does not shock you."

Eryn Riler shakes her head, "shock,,,no but it does surprise me that you are not more, I can see your feelings in your eyes Isis, he may be your partner and companion but in your heart he is so very much more"

Isis Gaelyth: "We do not need a priest to say words to make us know how we feel." Isis looks at Eryn. "We know in our hearts... this is forever."

Eryn Riler frowns slightly as she thinks about what Isis has said, "then it is in your hearts that you are married?"

Isis Gaelyth: "I will tell you a little..." Isis settles into the chair. "I was trained with my brother, by my father, a Knight of a far off land... a respected man. I was squire to them, and so learned to arm and fight."

Eryn Riler leans on her bag listening to the woman as she begins to tell her story.

Isis Gaelyth: "But my brother Ian, put to sea.... and thereafter my father fell ill and died."

Eryn Riler: "oh my how terrible, I am truly sorry for your loss m'lady"

Isis Gaelyth looks to the ceiling... "the circumstances were... suspicious... I suspected a neighbour, who I was betrothed to... had conspired to kill my father and take our lands... and marry another. But I had no strength to fight him, in my grief... he took all, and I told my people to hide, and gave them what little we had to succor them." Isis Gaelyth adds, "thank you for your sympathy"

Eryn Riler smiles slightly, "You are here now and I understand that you are to be my bodyguard but,,,Caledonia is going to be very lonely. Perhaps, we can become closer friends?"

Isis Gaelyth nods, "I would like that. After my father died.... I travelled far, dressed as a boy... and offered my sword to assist in fighting the Saxons. That is when I met my Johnny."

Eryn Riler stands and moves over to the woman, "the sun is beginning to rise, perhaps we should both go down, I do not wish to get off on the wrong foot with my cousin"

Isis Gaelyth: "I have not had many other friends... it would be a pleasure to know you better". She rises.

Eryn Riler smiles as she turns to pick up her bag, she gives the woman a wink, "we will be great friends Isis"

Isis Gaelyth watches the Princess. "How many will travel with you? You have a maid?"

Eryn Riler frowns, "no it was my father's wishes that we leave our old lives here. I believe that was more for my brother but I will abide by the same…. so it is just me and my brother"

Isis Gaelyth: "Then I will attend you as best I can, although my ways are rough. And Johnny will watch over you. There are guards your cousin brought, they will escort your litter. I will ride close by you."

Eryn Riler grins,,"thank you Isis, I promise not to be too much trouble, I do feel sorry for my brother's guard though" she laughs lightly at her brother having a guard

Isis Gaelyth nods, having seen a little of Prince Parker. "Both Princes... your cousin and your brother... they have strong spirits." She smiles

Eryn Riler nods, "I believe you are right, I do not know much of Prince Eamonn." She blushes slightly, "he is quite handsome"

Isis Gaelyth raises an eyebrow. "I said you had not seen much of the world," she laughs, teasing.

Eryn Riler giggles, "I do hope to see more"

Isis Gaelyth shuffles on her feet, knowing she has spent much time with men, and is unused to treating with young girls of noble birth. "Are you... betrothed yet?"

Eryn Riler shakes her head, "No, it seems that my brother will be choosing a mate for me. To be honest, I am not certain that I like this idea. I would much rather my heart choose than him"

Isis Gaelyth looks at the Princess. "This is unlikely to happen. You are of royal birth... there are alliances and lands and wealth to consider." Isis looks distasteful, "I do not agree with it, but it is how it is done."

Eryn Riler sighs,,,"You are right but if I am lucky then perhaps the man my brother chooses will also be the one my heart chooses" takes a deep breath "for now I do not wish to think about who will be chosen, we have an adventure waiting before us Isis. We will travel to a new land and see new things along the way."

Isis Gaelyth: "Aye, you are wise. And mayhap you will find your brother's choice is not so far from your own... your hearts are the same, and he loves you well."

Eryn Riler blushes "and I love him with all of my heart even when he plays dreadful tricks on me"

Isis Gaelyth smiles at this. "As my brother, Ian, did to me." She looks at Eryn, "Twas fate that chose my Johnny for me... he saved my life... and then I his... and we travel together now... ."

Eryn Riler looks a bit dreamy,,"that is so romantic" shakes her head to bring herself to reality "shall we meet then down at the stables?"

Isis Gaelyth hears the cock crow and walks to the window, peering through the glass. "Aye, we best go. Wear your warmest cloak, it will be a rainy day. We don't want you to be chilled."

Eryn Riler nods as she grabs her cloak from the bed and follows Isis out the door.
